Hudson Valley Hospital Center’s Laboratory Recognized for Excellence of Services Provided
Cortlandt Manor, NY…The Laboratory at Hudson Valley Hospital Center (HVHC) was recently awarded accreditation for the “excellence of the services it provides“ by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
“Patient safety and quality is of utmost importance to us at Hudson Valley Hospital Center,” said Deidre Gruber, Director, Laboratory Services at the Hospital. “This was a rigorous examination of every service the lab provides and we couldn’t be more proud of the results.”
CAP conducts an extensive on-site examination, where inspectors review the previous two years of lab records and quality control procedures. CAP inspectors also examine staff qualifications, laboratory equipment, facilities, safety program and record as well as the overall management of the laboratory. The inspection process is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all patients.
The Laboratory at Hudson Valley Hospital Center is one of nearly 7,000 nationally to win the CAP accreditation.
The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program was created in the early 1960s. It is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program. Designed to go well beyond regulator compliance, the program helps laboratories achieve the highest standards of excellence to positively impact patient care.
